Cemetery Rules and Regulations

November 15 – March 15
Fresh and artificial flower arrangements, wreaths, easels, statues, flags, placards, and decorations are allowed.
Any flowers, wreaths, easels, flags, placards, or other decorations not affixed to the top of gravestones must be picked up by March 15 to avoid disposal at the start of mowing season.
Flowers or decorations attached to the top of gravestones will not be removed unless they become unsightly.
No planting live shrubs or shrubs in containers around gravestones.
March 15 – November 15
No wreaths, easels, statues, flags, placards, or decorations placed in the ground around gravestones during mowing season. They will be removed prior to mowing.

All flowers, fresh and artificial, will be removed before each mowing.
To avoid disposal of flowers or personal items, the grass is cut the Friday before a weekend holiday, weather permitting.* Flowers and personal items must be picked up within 5 days of a holiday* or be attached to the top of a gravestone to not be removed for mowing.
*HOLIDAYS ARE CONSIDERED: Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Veteran’s Day. Grass is cut the Friday before these holidays. Any items put out before the Saturday prior to the holiday, will be removed for mowing. All decorations must be picked up within 5 days of the holiday to avoid removal.
The cemetery caretaker reserves the right to remove any items not attached to a gravestone that inhibits grass cutting and weed edging around stones during these months. Floral arrangements on top of gravestones will be removed at the discretion of the cemetery caretaker when they become discolored, wilted, or reasonably inappropriate or unsightly.
Whaleyville Methodist Church Cemetery offers no warranty or responsibility for the loss of flowers or decorations due to vandalism or forces of nature. Nor do we offer any warranty or responsibility for any loss or damage of flowers, trinkets, flags and other decorations due to any reason such as caretaker removal, weed-edging, wind, grass cutting, weather, theft, child’s play, or vandalism.
